Natural stone always surprising
In a world always on the run for the latest technology and unaffected by emotions, natural stone remains silent. With thousands of years breathing from the quarries or thrown into the environments often claimed exclusively by it, natural stone, a dreadful, yet necessary majesty brakes continuously and relentless the flow of sand into an hourglass, without any meaning for it whatsoever. Apparently without feelings and values, natural stone experiences a life of its own, violent and exclusive, marking its feelings and knowledge with shapes and colors. And from this harmony of facts, natural stone delivers us the essence of life.

Sometimes the stone underlines the memory of places where it stood once, lazy and omnipotent, for directing the beginning of the world. And it brings out simple souls climbing huge blocks of precise meanings. What is the meaning of such a behavior and what hopes natural stone to achieve with this? Is there an amazing symbolism in the huge rocks discovered in places not accustomed with this sort of things?

How did stone travelled more than 10,000 km for bringing rhinoceros from Kruger Park to Iceland and elephants from Namibia to New Zealand? What celestial winds have conquered the stone year after year, century after century and millennium after the millennium, carving it according to shapes and meanings unknown for us?
Here and there, stone is praying. Or it brings offerings to some of its own Gods, shaking in its millennial piety all our 20-century faith. In places only understood by it, deep and disturbing, natural stone builds temples and defines its own myths, scour spaces with absolute divinities and brings them to our faces, as alternatives to the perennial spirit. Our faith displays other dimensions, ubiquituos and having subtle and magical meanings, beyond what our short passage can encompass. This is the essence, this is peace.

Sometimes, splitface cladding plays. It colors frantic and creates volumes, reproducing objects, accentuating moods. Has the stone ever seen them and discover them in the memory of past millenians?

Does it imagines herself and presents them to us as it sees them inside her? Does it ever lived them? Why is the stone teaching us over and over again, this lesson in adapting the patience?

On Earth there are thousands of places where the stone, strong and authoritative, shows the world, as seen through its eyes, requiring imperative to stop the hemorrhage of everyday ideas and to look at it directly in the face. And to ask ourselves, simply, as a molecule detached from the eternity of stone: what superior state of matter does that make us so? What lost or unknown worlds cast the past towards us, through silent and majestic messengers, cut in time like oases? And who can undo the magic by which the stone overtake our senses and aspires us into its world, more vivid and genuine?
And it is still appropriate to remember the work of stone, by which matter, breathtaking and immoral, is sniffing our present.
