Raionul de peste – A place for fishermen with a story to tell
On a free walking tour of Bucharest, you'll realize that every slum corner or street corner awaits you with another experience. We believe in a beautiful Bucharest, where life happens in the smallest places and away from main streets. In time you discover that cool people are the ones who bless their places and you begin to be fascinated by those spaces that deliver fulfillment, the current one – from the small bistro where the flavors of grapes become ambrosia in a glass, to slum places in which food beats a home-cooked meal or fish markerts from where you wouldn't want to leave.

We have declared our passion for natural stone wherever and whenever we had the opportunity and from such passion we gain acces to nre horizons and perspectives. A material so natural and simple proved again that stone and the art of preparing make a good combination – a stone house, as they say – and begins to have an important part in space. About the benefits already talked in our past "confessions", but about the elegance and added, we could talk forever. With such journeys with natural stone we began to discover interesting places to share.

"Raionul de peste" is a concept-store (a space imagined as a concept) opened in the former vegetable and fruit market from Dorobanti neighbourhood, which offers you a unique experience – we know that everyone has a favorite place, discovered in the world, a place that one would love to discover replicated in Bucharest. Raionul de peste is such a place since 2013 – a symbiosis between the fish market, from where you buy fresh fish or seafood and a dining place where you can enjoy a dinner next to a glass of wine, while watching exotic dished prepared right in front of you. For those who take into account the "Cum Laude" Gault & Millau Romania Guide for 2018 includes 141 restaurants and POP venues from 6 cities (Bucharest, Cluj, Timisoara, Oradea, Brasov, Sibiu), and "Raionul de peste" is there as part of this selection of POP venues.

This is rather popular concept in Europe – fish bar – especially in cities near sea, because it offers customers confidence in their dishes. Basically, if you feel like cooking something like fish or seafood, but you do not want to actually cook, step by "Raionul de peste" to buy your raw material and book a seat at the table to enjoy an interactive culinary experience – with feedback from the first bite. Also, Mega-Image concept store from Cobalcescu Street use the same concept, with fish and fresh seafood

Apparently, people taste initially with their look and plating, flavors and colors have an important role in this first contact. From the colors of ingredients on your plate, to dishes prepared with fresh cooked fish, Raionul de peste makes Bucharest more beautiful and vivid. Besides the taste gallery from your plate, we also appreciate the interior design with natural stone, both in the restaurant, kitchen and for plating.

In a space where nature displays its raw material on the tables, stone is represented by countertops – Tundra Grey marble with polished finish is the material. A subtle touch of elegance – paradoxical for fishermen – and the veins crossing the marble surface and conveying elegance. The stone is also used for plating, such as sushi – an amazing Nero slate with such a subtle elegance hidden beneath the black honed color. This is a stone with exotic touches, imported and quarried from Brazil, ideal for plating hot or cold dishes and thus making an art from gastronomy. This is also an original way to differentiate yourself from other spaces with standard plating.
We believe that natural stone proves once again its inspiring feature, by transforms even a concept-fish market into a place for generating inspiration. Everyday, we realize that our passion for natural stone is addictive and we begin to discover it in our Bucharest. Such places reveal the importance of natural stone, or of natural materials and the potential to transform the ambience of a space. Until next time, the journey of stone continues and our only hope is that our article was convincing enough to reserve a table at Raionul de peste, for experience a fresh dinner and share it with us.
If you love nice people, fine places, natural stone and gastronomy, share your experience!
